I. Tiger-Crane Form Demonstration -- Slow Pace.
Entire form done slowly for reference without explanation.
II. Tiger-Crane Form Demo. -- Performance Pace.
Entire form done at full energy and tempo. This is used as our sample clip.
III. Modular Concept. Each of six sections of the form can be arranged into different order. Your review form and your future form are all modular components that can be combined and rearranged.
IV. Salutation. Hand formations of "Tiger" and "Crane." The controlling animal on the left side symbolically.
V. Section One: The first attack is with the eyes. Using the tiger's claw with the extended outward block. Anchor the elbow. Punch travels on centerline. Clock principle for directional reference. Explained in detail from frontal and side angle. Application examples: Countering punch (right and left) using tiger energy to counter tiger energy. Clearing lapel grab and pulling opponent into a knee with the crane hand.
VI. Section Two: Sequence explained with emphasis on potential targets and visual geometry of action. Alignment of "Tiger's Claw" strike explained. Making the block and punch of the opening flow like one action. Application examples. Defending against from kick (both sides) and low two hand grab attempt. Unfurling aspect of crane with potential knee with the chamber and kick with the unfurling.
VII. Section Three: Step by step detail from multiple angles identifying the weapons, targets, and exact path of travel of movement. Mandatory kiai. Application examples: Intercepting a punch with a strike that serves as a block. Clearing the front two hand choke from a kneeling position using crane methods.
First three sections are then summarized with demonstration with step by step explanation. Controlling the intention of mass emphasized.
VIII. Section Four: With clock direction references, each movement in sequence detailed with tips on proper formation of hand positions. Application: Intercepting an uppercut punch with simultaneous block/strike approach using Tiger energy. Crane defense to cross wrist grab. Also emphasis on attitude and fighting spirit of the animals.
IX. Section Five: Each move of section explained in detail. Tip on finding balance on spin rear kick. Using the hooking punch to start a circle that the kick completes. Application: Roundhouse punch -- how to use an inward block to pull opponent's position to cancel remaining hand through momentary cancellation of width zone. Using the crane section as grappling defense or continuation (suffix) to tiger movements.
X. Section Six: Each action explained in detail from multiple angles. Working forward to neutral bow motion. Application: Lifting up the attacker's punch to expose ribs. Unfurling affect of crane illustrated.
XI. Concluding Salute and Demo of Entire Form in Super-Slow Motion. First ever demonstration of a "slow motion kiai." The rest of the slow motion is a useful tool, however. Not only a reference visually but addresses the concept of why to slow down movement to increase the scrutiny of movement to magnify any errors to make corrections.
XII. Purpose of Kata and Common Errors to Avoid: Tiger-Crane Kata is an obstacle course to challenge and improve your quality of movement. Keeping elbow in, synchronization, hip to hand alignment, not rising on knee, making subtle adjustment when covering footwork to anticipate alignment of next stance. (These tips are just from one section -- all six sections are revisited with training and movement suggestions.)
XIII. Bonus Features:

2. Chris Thomas Adapts Tiger-Crane Form with Tonfa.
